26 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches from head to heel.

Here's a new baby bump pic - he's getting so big! As we both continue to grow, I've discovered a few things about being pregnant:

- Yes, people will stare at your belly as you walk down the hall, and never make eye contact with you.
- Everyone has an opinion about your size. You're either too big or too small, never just right.
- Now that it's evident that you're not just getting chubby, everyone will ask the three golden questions: when are you due? do you know what you're having? and... have you picked out a name? But try to have fun with it - you're sure to get a good laugh if you answer: "due? excuse me? for who?" or "May 4th, a cockerspaniel, we're torn between Spot and Ole Yeller"
- Your belly will get in the way when you least expect it, like when you're opening the dryer door, leaning over the sink, getting into the car, sliding your seat up to the table, pretty much all the time, really.
- Slip-on shoes are a gift straight from Heaven.
- Your belly button can morph in ways never thought possible.
- You never know how much you'll miss something until it's gone. Case in point: your abs.

Snow Day!

This morning, we woke up to 3 inches of snow!

Snow suits our new house very well, don't you think?

Our backyard, pre-snowball fight. How peaceful.

Let the games begin!

Can you believe Jamie just stood there and let me throw this at him?!

Post-snowball fight fashions.

Our snowman!

By the end of the day, it had snowed another 1.5 inches, bringing our total snowfall to 4.5 inches.

And the winner is...

So, this baby must be lucky! At the recent FHI Holiday Party, Jamie and I both won raffle gifts! A few days before the party, the company raffled off a night's stay at the hotel where the party would be held, to be used the night of the party. And guess whose name they drew? Jamie's!!! It was a wonderful surprise to find out we'd won anything at all, considering there are over 400 employees in the running for the hotel stay.

Now, fast forward to Saturday night. The company reserves most of the prizes for the night of - and to entice people to come out, you have to be present to win. Prizes usually include a host of gift cards, plane tickets and hotel stays. During dinner, everyone followed their congratulations on the room with comments like, "you guys better not win anything else!" and "you know you're not allowed to win another prize..." all teasing because, in fact, we were allowed to enter the raffles! But, I always responded, "Come on, what are the odds?!" Well... apparently, the odds were pretty good...

Thanks to our little lucky charm, I am the proud winner of two, first-class, round trip airline tickets to anywhere in the US! Maui here we come!!!

I'm just waiting to hear the comments we get on Tuesday... :)

With the holidays coming to a close, things are beginning to settle down into our normal routine. The weight of house hunting has been lifted off our shoulders and now we can look ahead to the arrival of little CanCan and all the many blessings 2009 is sure to hold. Pictures of the house and more blogging is coming soon. Happy New Year, y'all.
